Privacy Policy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: February 21, 2026

Hello and welcome to dev.ejohnny.ro! This is my personal blog where I share thoughts, tutorials, and experiments related to web development.

As the owner and sole operator of this site (not a company or business), I take your privacy seriously even though this is a small personal project. This combined Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explains what personal information (if any) I collect, how I use it, and the cookies present on the site.

This site is built with WordPress and hosted in a way that aims to respect visitor privacy as much as reasonably possible for a personal blog.

1. Information I Collect

I do not collect personal data in any active or sophisticated way. Specifically:

  • I do not sell, rent, or share any personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

2. Google Analytics (the only external analytics tool)

This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand general visitor behavior (e.g., number of visitors, popular pages, countries, devices, etc.). This helps me improve the content over time.

Google Analytics collects anonymized data such as:

  • IP address (anonymized / masked in most configurations)
  • Browser type and version
  • Referring site / page
  • Pages visited and time spent

Google acts as a data processor under this setup. The legal basis for using Google Analytics is your consent (non-essential tracking). According to current EU rules (GDPR + ePrivacy), analytics cookies require informed consent when they involve personal data (such as IP addresses).

Google Analytics Cookies

The following cookies may be set by Google Analytics:

Cookie Name Duration Purpose Category
_ga 2 years Used to distinguish unique users Analytics
_ga_<container-id> 2 years Used to persist session state Analytics
_gid 24 hours Used to distinguish users within a single day / session Analytics
_gat(_<custom>) 1 minute Used to throttle / limit request rate Analytics

For more details see Google’s official documentation: GA4 Cookie usage.

3. WordPress Core & Functional Cookies

WordPress itself sets some cookies, mostly for site functionality (especially if you are logged in as admin or leave a comment). These are strictly necessary or functional cookies and usually do not require consent under EU law.

Cookie Name Duration Purpose Category
wordpress_[hash] Session Authentication for logged-in users (admin area only) Necessary
wordpress_logged_in_[hash] Session / persistent Keeps you logged in Necessary
wordpress_test_cookie Session Checks if cookies are enabled Necessary
wp-settings-{time}-[UID] 1 year Admin interface preferences Functional
comment_author_[hash]
comment_author_email_[hash]
comment_author_url_[hash]
1 year Remember name/email/website when leaving comments (if comments enabled) Functional

4. No Other Trackers

To the best of my knowledge, there are no advertising cookies, social media pixels (Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, etc.), remarketing tools, or other third-party trackers on this site.

5. Your Rights & How to Manage Cookies

  • You can withdraw consent for Google Analytics at any time (via future consent banner or browser settings).
  • Most browsers let you block or delete cookies: see instructions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari.
  • You can also install browser extensions like uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, or ClearURLs for extra control.
  • If you are in the EU/EEA/UK and believe your data rights have not been respected, you can contact your national data protection authority.

6. Changes to This Policy

I may update this page occasionally (e.g., if I add new features, plugins, or change analytics settings). Check the “Last updated” date at the top.

7. Contact
